Color palettes
Visual displays for data with graphs and figures are essential in reviewing data and results. In PayAnalytics you can customize the color of various data points. It also provides two built-in palettes, the PayAnalytics default palette, and a gender-neutral color palette. All these palettes are editable and PayAnalytics also provides you an option to create your own. In this article, we will cover how to edit and customize your Color palettes.
You can customize your palettes under Home > Settings > System Settings > Color palettes as illustrated in the following picture:

You can tailor the colors to represent different demographic groups in the graphs and figures in the system.
We provide two built-in palettes. You can edit these palettes by clicking on the icon, discard them by selecting the icon or create your own palettes by clicking + Add color palette. button, as illustrated in the following picture:
Color palette options
There are three color sections within each palette. The first will be used for gender and the other two for other demographic variables (e.g., race or age). To set a color, click on the corresponding field to get a color chart where you can choose your desired color. For the non gendered colors, you can add more colors if needed. You can also choose which demographic group you want to assign to each color. On the right side of the Gender colors window, you will see an example of how the colors will look in the system, as the following figure illustrates:
Gender colors options
For non gendered colors, you can choose to generate colors for specific demographic groups from a selected dataset by clicking on Generate colors for specific demographic groups button, as presented in the following figure:

After generating colors, you can further customize them and name the demographic group represented by the color of your choosing, as illustrated in the following picture:

You may also select a dataset with demographic groups and easily assign colors to your demographic values. Choose your dataset and click on Use dataset button, as the following figure illustrates:
Dataset selection
After selecting your dataset, you will be asked to confirm your choice. If your dataset has more than one non gendered demographic variable, you can choose for which of them you want to generate the colors. In the pop-up window you will see the information about the options you chose. Click on Create button to generate the colors, as presented in the following figure:

You can also enter a name for your palette and set it as a system default, as illustrated in the following picture:

If you are unhappy with the colors you chose, you can always reset your changes to any of the default built-in palettes we provide.
If you would like to use other palette than the default one for a specific dataset, navigate to the Dataset configurations > Other settings and find the palette you previously created. For further instruction, see Uploading your data article.
