Labels
Labels can be attached to items (e.g. datasets and analyses) to serve two broad purposes, to organize items and authorize access.
Creating, editing & attaching labels
Before using labels, you must first create and then attach them to the relevant items. To create labels proceed as follows:
Head to system settings.
Select Labels from the menu.
Click + New Label.
-
Provide three inputs to help identify the label context:
Text: a short name to help identify the specific label (for example, Sweden).
Description: a longer text with more detailed description about what is or should be included in the label ( for example, covers employees hired by the Swedish entity). This step is not required.
Color: assign a color to help visually identify the items within the label group (for example, yellow).
Click Save to create your new label.
Managing labels
Your use of labels may change over time. PayAnalytics platform enables you to make updates to your labels and even delete them.
To edit or delete labels proceed as follows:
Head to system settings.
Select Labels from the menu.
-
Click on the pencil icon beside a specific label to edit it.
Make updates to the text, description and/or color.
Click Save to confirm the edit.
-
Click on the bin icon beside a specific label to delete it.
The system will inform you if the label is attached to any items.
You will need to confirm deletion by clicking Delete or click Cancel to leave the label unchanged.
Label edition
To attach labels to a dataset proceed as follows:
Open that dataset or any analysis within that particular dataset.
Click Labels below the dataset name (e.g. local dataset - job role).
This opens up a box, displaying all available labels that have been created (and which you can access, see the next section about access control).
Select the label(s) you want to attach to the dataset (e.g. Sweden). Note that it is possible to select and attach multiple labels to an item.
If the label you would like to attach is not available, check out the section above on how to add labels.
Close the label box and you will see your selected label attached to your dataset.
Assigning labels
Using labels to organize items
Labels enable you to easily navigate through different items you have created in the PayAnalytics platform. You can create any label you wish and attach it to different items. This feature is helpful when you plan to import data sets, run analyses and create reports at high volume, and require a quick way to find the relevant items.
Labels are currently supported for the following items:
Data sets
Analyses
Job evaluations
Compensation benchmarking
Pay bands
Employee groups
Presets for running analyses and running the compensation assistant
Once labels have been assigned to items, users will be able to retrieve and view those items by label filter search. For example, you may assign country labels to datasets, analyses and reports. This will allow your users to filter search and view data sets, analysis and benchmarks within a specific country only, for example ‘United Kingdom’ or ‘Sweden’.
As an example, let’s see how labels can be used to retrieve specific items. To retrieve only data sets and/or analyses with specific labels:
Head over to view your list of data sets and analysis on the Home page.
Click Filter by label button on the top right corner.
A box will open, displaying all available label options. If this is empty, check out section one, which covers how to create labels.
Select a label (e.g. local) or multiple labels, depending on the items you want to view.
The dataset and analyses list will automatically filter by the selected labels in the list.
Organizing and filtering items can be hugely beneficial to help manage pay equity across your organization. However, you may want to go one step further and begin managing user access based on the attached labels, for example, to adhere to data privacy considerations. For more information about the access controls, and how to use the labels when restricting user access, refer to Detailed access control.
